Rinpoche said that in the fast paced life, there is an urgent need to nurture one’s inner self.

He said the modern day people are restless and excited. They need to compose themselves through  regular breathing exercises that would ‘awaken’ them and bring peace of mind.

He also spoke about the need for a purpose in life, which basically is being happy. People are increasingly associating themselves with external things and in the process forgetting who they really are. Turning the mind inwards is the biggest teaching of Buddha, he said.

A passing reference to Odisha’s connection with Buddhism was also made during his talk. He spoke about many Buddhist relics excavated from across the state and added that this shows the deep connection that the earlier generations had with Buddhism.
