July 3-- The department of archaeology and museums on Wednesday announced to display the structures found at the ancient Buddhist stupa in Kurukshetra.

Refuting reports in a section of press that the archaeological site of Buddhist stupa, situated on the western bank of holy Brahmsarovar here, has been damaged due to the ongoing renovation work, a spokesperson of the department said conservation and scientific cleaning of the Buddhist stupa was being carried out for the past one year.
Structures, which were to be preserved, had again been kept in soil, the spokesperson said, adding only beautification work was to be carried out by the tourism department. JCB machine was used for making pathways and landscaping at the Buddhist stupa, he said.
The work was done in a proper manner under the supervision of archaeology and museums department and no harm was made to the stupa or other structures found during scientific cleaning.
He said a sum of Rs. 30 lakh had been provided to the tourism department for carrying out various works like pathways, toilet, rain shelter, landscaping and the work was in full swing.
The tourism department is working efficiently while taking care of the archaeological findings.
The spokesperson said that the tourism department had so far spent Rs. 30 lakh on these works whereas archaeology and museums department had spent Rs. 7 lakh on scientific cleaning and conservation work of the area. Documentation had been done for the material found during scientific cleaning, the spokesperson added.
