December 12-- Bhikkhu Bodhiraja who is a citizen of Congo was ordained only just five years ago, yet he has been a huge service to the cause of Buddhism in Congo. He was able to build and establish four Buddhist temples in the main cities of Congo due to his dedicated work. Bhikkhu Bodhiraja is acting under the guidance of Ven. It is a school that makes a priority of academic achievement within a community of well-rounded individuals. New Delhi, India, 6 December 2013 – In a letter to the family of Nelson Mandela, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed his deep sadness on learning of the passing away of Nelson Mandela. His Holiness wrote: “In his death the world has lost a great leader, whose steadfast and unflinching determination played a key role in securing peace and reconciliation during South Africa’s transition from apartheid rule. Under his leadership South Africa was transformed through peaceful means, in the spirit of reconciliation.”

When he began the hall was quiet and virtually empty, but towards the end of his rituals, two Mongolian musicians began to play poignant lilting melodies on their bowed, stringed instruments.

New Delhi, India, 3 December 2013 - The necessary preparations were already complete when His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in the Kempinski Hotel Ballroom early this morning. He took a seat beside the teaching throne facing the small mandala house, ritual cakes and other offerings arrayed at the back of the stage. He then performed the requisite self-initiation for the Vajrabhairava empowerment he was due to give later in the day. As the hall gradually filled with people, the quiet was occasionally punctuated by the ringing of His Holiness’s bell, sometimes accompanied by the drumming of his damaru.

New Delhi, India, 2 December 2013 - A group of 818 Buddhists from Mongolia converged on the Kempinski Ambience Hotel in New Delhi, where they were joined by 60 Koreans and 15 Tibetans to listen to teachings by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He was escorted from his car to a stage at one end of the hotel ballroom, which had been transformed by a large backdrop featuring a painting of the Buddha and the 17 Nalanda Masters and images of Je Tsongkhapa and Vajrabhairava. After he had taken his seat on the throne, monks led a recitation of the Heart Sutra in Mongolian.

New Delhi, India, 1 December 2013 - The Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) invited His Holiness the Dalai Lama to address a select gathering of corporate leaders, civil servants, academicians, professionals, and diplomats today as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. The event took place at the Jaypee Integrated Sports Complex, Greater Noida. His Holiness’s relations with the Birla family go back to the early days of his life in India. It was in their house in Mussoorie that he spent his first year in exile before moving to Dharamsala. In a brief meeting before his talk, he was presented with a framed photograph of himself with Mr & Mrs BK Birla on the veranda of Birla House in 1959 or 1960.
