New Delhi, India, 13 November 2013 - Shortly after arriving in Delhi from Dharamsala today, His Holiness the Dalai Lama drove to the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) where he had been invited to inaugurate a two day national seminar on the Nalanda Tradition of Buddhism in Asia. He was received by Geshe Dorji Damdul, Director of Tibet House, and escorted through the IGNCA grounds by the convenor of the event Benoy K Behl and his old friend Dr Kapila Vatsyayan.

Nov 10 -- Buddhists have traditionally been very committed to protecting the environment. The 5th Khoryug Conference on Environmental Protection for Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries and Nunneries has begun at the India International Centre. Phayul.com reported on Nov. 9, 2013, the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje, is leading the five-day conference which has a goal of educating Buddhist monks and nuns to take a leading role in their communities in conserving freshwater resources across the Himalayas.

Natural interventions such as meditation are preferable to drugs in order to avoid potential side effects from tranquilizers. Mayo Clinic writes that meditation is used for relaxation and stress reduction. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center reported in a news release on Oct. 30, 2013, that medical students are being taught meditation techniques to prevent burnout and improve care.
